A man from Merseyside has been charged with murder

A man from Bolton has been charged with murder.

Jordan Short (18/01/2001), of Rushey Hey Road, Kirkby, has been charged with the murder of 34-year-old Steven James McMyler. He has been remanded in custody and will appear at Wigan Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Thursday 13 August 2020).

Shortly before 7.50pm on Thursday 6 August 2020, police were called by the ambulance service to reports of concern for a man outside the church on Bishopgate, Wigan.

Despite the best efforts of emergency services, Steven James McMyler sadly died at the scene.

Three men – aged 30, 19 and 18 – were arrested on suspicion of murder and released under investigation.

A 19-year-old man and a 13-year-old boy have since been arrested on suspicion of murder. The boy remains in custody for questioning.
