A man has sadly died following a collision in Ashton-under-Lyne

Police are appealing for information after a pregnant woman’s car was stolen in Chorlton, Manchester.

Police were called just before 2pm yesterday (Thursday 14 October 2021) to Manchester Road, Ashton-under-Lyne to a report of a collision involving a lorry and a pedestrian.

Emergency services attended but despite the best efforts of paramedics a 72-year-old man – the pedestrian – was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the lorry remained at the scene to assist police with their enquiries.

Enquiries are ongoing and no arrests have been made.

PS Phil Shaw, from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This is a tragic incident in which a man has sadly died. Our thoughts remain with his family and friends at this time.

“This collision happened in the middle of the day and I am hopeful that there are a number of witnesses who can assist us with our enquiries.

“If you were in the area at the time and witnessed this collision or have any dashcam footage, please do not hesitate to contact police.”
