Appeal after man dies in Stockport collision

Appeal following collision in Moss Side

We’re appealing for information after a man died after a collision in Stockport earlier today.


Shortly before 9.30am on Monday 27 September, officers were called to a report of a black Toyota Ago colliding with a wall on Keswick Avenue, Gatley.


The driver – a 57-year-old man – was taken to hospital in a critical injuries where he sadly died a short time later. His next of kin is aware.


Initial enquiries by our Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) indicate that no other vehicles were involved and no one else is sought in connection with the incident.


Police are asking for any witnesses or anyone who may have been in the area to check dash cam and CCTV footage.


Sergeant Matthew Waggett, of GMP’s SCIU, said: “All our thoughts this evening are with the family and friends of the driver who so tragically lost his life this morning – we are doing all we can in this incredibly tough time to get them the answers they deserve.


“While we don’t believe any other vehicles were involved in this collision, we are keen to hear from anyone with information as to what happened here so we can ensure we establish the full circumstances of this fatal incident.


“This includes CCTV or dash cam footage and we ask people, if they can help, to get in touch on 0161 856 4741 quoting incident 784 of 27/09/2021.”
