Appeal following assault in Litherland

Next of kin: Kevin Ambrose

Detectives are appealing for information after an assault in Litherland this evening (Friday 3 December).

Just after 8.05pm officers were called to a report that a man had been kicked and punched by a group of males who were on push bikes on Eaton Avenue. A number of the group were described as wearing hoodies.

The victim sustained serious head injuries, which are not life-threatening, and has been taken to hospital for treatment.

Officers are in attendance at the scene conducting enquiries and speaking to witnesses, as well as exploring CCTV opportunities. A cordon is in place on Eaton Avenue where forensic examination of the scene is taking place.

Inspector Philip Cowin said: “Our investigation into this incident is in its very early stages, but we believe this was a targeted attack

“Officers at the scene are making progress speaking to potential witnesses and reviewing CCTV footage, and I would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, seen the offenders acting suspiciously in the area or captured any footage on CCTV or dashcam to come forward.

“Any information, however small it may seem, could prove vital as we seek to understand exactly what happened and bring those responsible to justice.”
