Appeal following cash in transit van theft in Huyton

Appeal for information following report of criminal damage in Liscard

Detectives are appealing for information following the theft of a cash in transit van in Huyton this morning, Friday 10 November.

At around 9.20am it was reported that a man grabbed a cash box off the security guard outside Tesco Express on Hillside Road and then drove off in the cash transit van.

It was further reported that the van was on fire after colliding with a pole at the junction of Radway and Lyme Cross Road.

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service attended to extinguish the flames.

The two men, who were dressed in dark clothing, then ran off with the cash box. They got into a silver car and drove off towards Liverpool Road.

We are in the early stages of an investigation and officers are currently in the area to carry out CCTV and witness enquiries to help find those responsible.

Detective Inspector Richard Shillito said: “We are in the early stages of the investigation and are keen to speak to anyone who may have saw the incident please get in touch.

“If you live in the area or were driving past at the time, please check you CCTV or dashcam footage for anything that might help with the investigation. The smallest detail could be the key to finding those responsible and removing them from the streets.”
