Appeal for witnesses after shots fired in Toxteth

Detectives are appealing for information after shots were fired in Huyton last night, Wednesday 9 June.

Shortly after 11pm, officers were called to Huyton House Road to reports of damage to a property. The incident is believed to have happened around 11pm and was reported a short while later. Evidence of a shooting was found in the street and an investigation has commenced. House-to-house, forensic and CCTV enquiries are ongoing and no injuries were reported.

Detective Chief Inspector Matt Smith from our Firearms Investigation Team said: “Firing a weapon towards a home is incredibly reckless and thankfully the occupants were uninjured, although left understandably shocked.

“We initially believe that this incident was targeted and are keeping an open mind on the motive. We’re keen to hear from anyone in the area who saw or heard anything around midnight, or captured anyone in the area on CCTV, dashcam or doorbell devices.

“Two males on a motorcycle were seen making off from the location towards Liverpool Road so pass on anything you know and we will take action. Shootings in Merseyside have been reduced in recent months, due in no small part to information from those communities who can feel the effects.”
