Appeal for information to an arson at Helsby rugby club

Man charged with four offences following incident in Widnes

Police investigating a fire at a rugby club in Helsby are appealing for information from members of the public.

A pavilion was deliberately set alight at Helsby Rugby Club on Callender Gardens.

The fire is believed to have started at around 3.20pm on Saturday 21 May.

Officers are appealing for anyone with information, CCTV or dash cam footage to get in touch.

PC Victoria Edwards, of Chester local policing unit, said: “At this stage we know the fire was started deliberately and are appealing for information that would lead to the identity of those responsible for setting the pavilion alight.

“While we continue with our investigation and follow a number of enquiries I am appealing to anyone who may have information, or been in the area at the time and seen people acting suspiciously, to get in touch.

“I’d also ask residents to check their CCTV or dash cam footage and to contact us if it could assist with the investigation.”
