Man charged with four offences following incident in Widnes

Police investigating a sexual assault in Warrington are appealing for information from members of the public.

A 15-year-old girl was stood at a bus stop on Winwick Road near to the green bridge when she was approached by a man.

The man spoke to the girl, briefly walked away before returning to her to speak to her again.

He then inappropriately touched her and tried to push her towards his Mercedes A100 vehicle before driving away.

The man is described as white, of a slim build and aged in his twenties. He was wearing work style trousers and a beige oversized T-shirt.

The incident occurred at around 10:30am on Thursday 21 April 2022.

Detective Constable Rachel Williams, of Warrington local policing unit, said: “The girl was on her own when the man approached her. Despite making it clear she didn’t want to speak to him he continued to engage with her and touched her inappropriately which understandably left her shaken.

“She did the right thing in reporting it to officers straight away.

“As part of the investigation I am appealing to members of the public to come forward with information that could lead to the identity of this man.

“Perhaps you were in the area at the time or live nearby with CCTV or dashcam footage that shows a man matching this description. If this is the case I would ask you to please get in touch with us.”
