Appeal for witnesses following confrontational burglary in Wirral

We are appealing for witnesses following a confrontational burglary at the home of a Wirral pensioner.

At around 9pm last night, Wednesday 15th September, the woman, who is in her 80s, was awoken by three men in the bedroom of her house in the Arrowe Park Road area of Upton.

The men made threats to the woman before making an untidy search of the house.

They escaped with cash, gold jewellery and a Rolex watch.

The woman was not injured but left badly shaken by her ordeal.

The men are described as being around 30 years of age, tall and of stocky build. It is believed they were dressed identically in black trousers and navy blue tops and were all wearing masks.

An investigation is underway and CCTV, forensic and house-to-house enquiries have been carried out in the local area.

Detective Inspector Tony O’Brien said: “To target an elderly lady in her own home is absolutely the lowest of the low.

“I know that there will be people out there who know who this group of men are and I would urge them to come forward and give us names as they deserve to be behind bars.

“I would appeal for anyone who was in the area of Arrowe Park Road at around 9pm last night who saw or heard anything suspicious to contact us. I am particularly appealing for any taxi or delivery drivers to check their dash cam to see if they captured anything significant.

“These men appeared to have been dressed in the same or similar outfits – did you see them in the area of Arrowe Park Road last night? Similarly have you been offered any gold jewellery or a Rolex watch for sale in the last 24 hours?

“Please come forward and speak to us, or pass on the information anonymously via Crimestoppers.”

Anyone with information is asked to DM @MerPolCC or @CrimestoppersUK on 0800 555 111 quoting reference 21000644139.
