Appeal for witnesses following two assaults in Liverpool city centre

Appeal for information following armed robbery in Heswall

We are appealing for witnesses after two people were reportedly assaulted in Liverpool city centre in the early hours of Sunday 29th August.

In the first incident, at around 1.05am, a 30 year-old man was in the Black Rabbit on Fleet Street when he was confronted by another male and punched in the face.

The assault caused him to fall to the floor, hitting his head. He suffered life changing injuries including a broken jaw, a fractured eye socket and a hairline skull fracture. The male then left the club.

A short time later the same male is believed to have approached a group of people outside of McDonalds on Church Street in Liverpool.

The male is then reported to have punched a man to the head. The man did not suffer significant injuries or require hospital treatment but was left shaken by the incident.

A 30 year-old man was arrested by patrols a short time later on suspicion of s18 assault.

He has since been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

We are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed either incident or captured any video footage on their mobile phone to contact us.

We are also asking for any cars or taxi that drove past the incident on Ranelagh Street and who captured anything on dash cam footage to get in touch.

Detective Inspector Chris Saidi said: “Enquiries into both incidents remain ongoing and I would ask anyone who witnessed either incident or has any information which could assist the investigation to get in touch.”

Anyone with information is asked to DM @MerPolCC or @CrimestoppersUK anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting reference 21000600757.
