Armistice Day

Remember at home

At the eleventh hour on the eleventhday of the eleventh month, a two minute silence is annually observed in honour of all the service men and women, both past and present, who have served their country.

This year due to the coronavirus pandemic, residents are being asked to remember and pay their respects from home.

Mayor of Warrington, Cllr Maureen Creaghan said: “While the national lockdown means we cannot mark Armistice Day in the same way, it’s important that we continue to honour all those who have been injured or lost their lives fighting for their country.

“You can play your part in this by observing the two-minute silence from home for our brave armed forces and veterans.”
