Some of the incidents our traffic cops responded to overnight
It was a busy night for our traffic cops who continue to work tirelessly to keep our roads safe.
This was the moment a Mercedes – believed to be stolen from West Yorkshire and suspected of being on cloned plates – was tactically stopped on the M62 near Simister Island before a suspect was arrested.
Elsewhere in Bury, a Transit van nearly collided with officers already responding to a collision before the van was pursued and tried to ram the officers’ car.
The driver ran from the vehicle in Heywood before a suspect was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, driving with no insurance, driving with no licence and driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs.
Two suspects were arrested after a Transit vehicle suspected of being on cloned plates in Tameside was pursued before our specialist operations team assisted in stinging the van, which ground to a halt after losing most of its tires.
The suspected driver was arrested for failing to stop, dangerous driving, failing to provide a sample of breath, disqualified driving, theft of motor vehicle and is also wanted for breach of court order.
A number of other vehicles were stopped through the night for other traffic offences, including a car in Gorton that was behaving suspiciously and appeared to be on cloned plates before the driver was reported and the vehicle seized.
