Police investigating a large fight in Rusholme in January have released a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to in connection with the incident.
The fight occurred at around 5am on Sunday 26 January 2020 outside the Dubai Café on Wilmslow Road and involved a group of between 15 and 20 men.
Sadly, 33-year-old Emanuel Simon – an innocent bystander during the brawl – was fatally assaulted and detectives have been investigating his death and the wider violent disorder ever since.
Five men have so far been arrested and subsequently charged in connection with the incident.
Investigators are appealing to the public to help identify the man pictured so they can speak to him as part of their enquiries.
Detective Chief Inspector Carl Jones, of GMP’s Major Incident Team, said: “This has been a fast-moving investigation and we have made a number of important breakthroughs so far that have significantly aided our investigation and enabled us to have five men charged – one of them in connection with Emanuel’s murder.
“I thank the public for their support with this inquiry since our first appeal back in February and I am asking them today to again help identify the man we have released an image of so that we can further establish who else was involved that night.
“While we are confident the man was not involved in the tragic death of Emanuel Simon, we are keen to speak to him in connection with the wider violent disorder that preceding this fatal event as he may hold vital information, so I urge him or anyone who recognises him to contact police.”
