CCTV appeal following assault in Liverpool city centre

Detectives have issued CCTV images of two people who could have information that may assist with their enquiries following an assault at a bar in Liverpool City Centre.

At around 9.30pm on Monday 7 May, a disturbance occurred at Ruby Blues bar on Great Charlotte Street.

The victim, a man in his 30s, brushed past a man and a woman in the venue. He was then struck in the face and as a result suffered a fractured eye socket and bleed to the brain.

He was taken to hospital and is still recovering from his injuries, both physically and mentally.

A member of bar staff intervened and was then also assaulted.

CCTV and witness enquiries are ongoing to identify the suspects responsible, and detectives have issued images of a man and a woman they believe could assist with their investigation.

Detective Inspector Katie Coote said: “This was a dangerous and unprovoked attack that left the victim seriously injured. Violence like this will never be tolerated on the streets of Merseyside.

“The victim is still healing from the assault, which will no doubt will have a lasting psychological impact.

“This incident took place when the bar was still busy with people, so if you were in the Ruby Blues bar at around 9.30pm on Monday 7 May and saw the altercation or the events leading up to it, then please contact us.

“I am also appealing for people to come forward if you recognise the man and woman featured in these images. We believe they could hold information that could be vital to our continuing enquiries.”
