Celebrating Eid al-Adha Safely

Staying safe over Eid

As we approach Eid al-Adha, we would like to take this opportunity to thank our Muslim communities who have made sacrifices during the pandemic whilst adhering to the Covid-19 restrictions; we understand that it has been a difficult and challenging time.

Eid al-Adha is an important date in the Islamic calendar and each year, Rusholme and surrounding areas of Manchester attract thousands of visitors from throughout the UK as part of the festivities – something that we are extremely proud of. However, we would like to appeal to those who are visiting to celebrate the occasion in a responsible way, and please respect local residents and business owners.

Over the coming days, there will be a dedicated policing plan in place with officers working to ensure that everyone stays safe whilst enjoying the occasion.

We are also working closely with partners to encourage those celebrating Eid, to do so safely and in a responsible manner, as although Covid-19 restrictions have just been lifted, the national guidance is to remain cautious and take a sensible approach to any close interaction with people who you do not live with.

Finally, we would like to wish you and your families a happy and blessed Eid Mubarak.
