CENSUS 2021 – BE AWARE OF SCAMMERS

The Office for National Statistics shortly be carrying out the Census 2021 across England and Wales. Census Day is Sunday 21 March.

From Monday 22 March 2021 census officers will be:
• knocking on doors following up non-responders
• helping the public with queries.

All the census officers will be carrying official identification cards. The card will have a photograph and the officer’s name. The officers will work through the day to make contact with residents during the following times:
• Monday to Saturday: 9am to 8pm
• Sundays and bank holidays: 10am to 4pm

A spokeswoman for Halton Borough Council’s Trading Standards, said: “Census officers will never ask you for your national insurance number, passwords, bank account details, or your credit or debit card numbers.

“All census officers will work in a socially distanced way; they will all be wearing PPE and they will not enter anyone’s home.”

Any emails from the Census team will be sent from: noreply@help.census.gov.uk

Any texts you receive from the Census team will be sent from Census2021. If you text the Census team, their responses will come from 86677.

The Mersey Gateway Bridge in Halton will join more than 100 landmarks across England and Wales in lighting up purple this weekend to celebrate the upcoming census and its importance to communities.

The event is being organised by The Office for National Statistics (ONS) to raise awareness of census day – Sunday March 21 – a survey that happens every ten years and gives a picture of all the people and households in England and Wales.
