Child injured by firework in Huyton

We can confirm we received a report that a child had been injured as a result of a firework being set alight in Huyton today, Sunday 25 September.

At around 2.45pm it was reported that a 12-year-old boy was injured in the head and body from a firework in the garden of a property on Pennard Avenue.

Ambulance attended and has taken the child to hospital for treatment.

Paramedics also treated a person who had fainted.

Officers from Merseyside Police and Merseyside Fire and Rescue (MFRS) attended and are currently investigating the circumstances into the incident.

Chief Inspector Gary O’Rourke said: ““Enquiries are in the very early stages to establish the circumstances into how the 12-year-old boy was injured by a firework.

“A full enquiry by Merseyside Police and MFRS is taking place to establish the facts.”
