City council worker Carol Challoner laid to rest

The funeral of Liverpool City Council worker Carol Challoner, who sadly passed away after contracting COVID-19, takes place this morning.

More than 100 touching tributes to Carol have been submitted on an online Book of Condolence, which is still available for anyone who wishes to leave a message.

‘Kind, caring, funny and an absolute delight to work with. Our team has lost a very beautiful soul. I can still see you walking across the office with a royal wave, nod of the head to us all ending with a curtsey at your desk and that beautiful infectious laugh, you brightened up the start of the morning. RIP our dancing queen. Deepest sympathy to all your family.’ Sharon Willmitt

‘Deepest sympathy to Carol’s family and all her friends. It was a joy to work alongside you. I will miss the sunshine of your smile and your wonderful, wonderful sense of humour. Sleep well our little sunbeam.’ Jim Townson

‘Carol you made such a difference to the lives of children and young people you worked for and with. You were always “for them” and you gave your best. Their loss and ours is great…Goodnight and God bless and may your star shine bright in the heavens.’ Brian Cartwright

‘Carol you gave so much of yourself to everything you did and always had a friendly word and a smile that lifted others. You were a wonderful role model for our young people and they were blessed to have your guidance. Deepest sympathy to all of Carol’s family, friends and the Leaving Care Team.’ Carolyn Lawler.
