Coronavirus: The Home Front

A new documentary – ‘Coronavirus: The Home Front’ – filmed at Warrington Hospital, will be screened tonight, Thursday 7 May.

Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust opened their doors to the cameras to show what working on the frontline during the coronavirus pandemic is really like. The hour long show features Sky News foreign correspondent, Alex Crawford, reporting on the impact of the virus through the eyes of staff working at Warrington Hospital and out in the community.

Cllr Rebecca Knowles, cabinet member for statutory health and adult social care, said: “The Trust has done a fantastic job throughout the pandemic in caring for people who are seriously ill as a result of contracting coronavirus. The battle against the pandemic is relentless and I would like to thank all of the staff at the hospital, and out in the community, who are working tirelessly to care for people during this challenging time.

“The hospital and staff have shown amazing team work, resilience and innovation in caring for our most critically ill patients, continuing to provide high standards of care while keeping patient’s spirits up, and ensuring families are kept well-informed.”

The council and hospital have been working closely together for some time now, to ensure there is a smooth hospital discharge procedure. This integrated approach has been valuable at such a difficult time, and both organisations share a strong commitment to ensuring patients can leave hospital safely, with appropriate support and care packages in place.
