Covid-19 grants boost thousands of businesses

Nearly 8,500 hospitality and leisure businesses have been given the lifeline of a financial boost during the pandemic.

A one-off cash grant of either £10,000 or £25,000 was offered to retail, hospitality and leisure businesses with a rateable value of below £51,000 in order to increase their chances of survival after their business were affected by the impact of coronavirus.

Since March, Liverpool City Council has awarded 8,450 grants worth £103,025,000.  Grants allocated were:

  • Small business grants (£10k) – 6,457 awarded worth £64,570,000
  • Retail, hospitality and leisure grants (£10k) – 758 awarded worth £7,580,000
  • Retail, hospitality and leisure grants (£25k) – 1,235 awarded worth £30,875,000

The city council also gave out a further £5 million in discretionary grants to organisations who did not meet the criteria for the government schemes
