Detectives issue CCTV following robbery of bike in Runcorn

Detectives investigating a robbery in Runcorn have issued a CCTV image in an appeal for information.

At around 5.35pm on Tuesday 10 May, a teenage boy and his friend were stood nearby the tennis courts on Highlands Road with a bike when two men on a moped approached them.

The pillion passenger then grabbed one of the boys and threatened him to hand the bike over.

The two males, who were wearing balaclavas, then fled the scene carrying the bike on the moped.

The bike has since been returned to the owner but police are now appealing to anyone who has any information to get in touch.

Detective Constable Lois Elvey said: “This would have been a terrifying ordeal for the teenagers and I want the community to know that we are doing everything possible to track down those responsible and bring them to justice.

“We have several enquiries underway and know that after the incident, the suspects are believed to have travelled to Widnes via the Silver Jubilee Bridge carrying the bike.

“As part of these enquiries, we have issued CCTV of two males we would like to speak to in connection with the robbery – if you know who they are, or the males themselves, please contact us.

“I am also appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or may have dashcam or CCTV footage of the suspects around the time of the incident and has not yet got in touch to please do so.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact Cheshire Police via the website by quoting IML 1265635 via or call 101.

Alternatively, anyone with information can report it to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via the Crimestoppers website.
