Detectives issue CCTV images following assault in Warrington

Detectives investigating an assault in Warrington have issued CCTV images of a man they would like to speak to.

At around 2am on Thursday 14 October, a woman was walking along Barbauld Street when she became aware of a man who was following her.

The man attempted to grab her and pushed her towards a wall. He then made inappropriate comments towards her.

The woman managed to get away and returned home.

The incident was then reported to police.

CCTV images have now been issued of a man officers want to speak to in connection with the incident.

Detective Sergeant Joe McNally, of Warrington Local Policing Unit, said:“This incident will understandably be of concern to those heading into Warrington to enjoy a night out.

“However I want to reassure the local community that we are doing all we can to trace the person responsible and bring them to justice.

“Patrols are being stepped up in the area and if anyone has any concerns, no matter how small, please speak to an officer.

“We are following several lines of enquiry and as part of this have CCTV still images of a man who we want to speak to.

“If anyone knows who he is please get in touch with us.

“I would also urge anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any information to report this to Cheshire Police by calling 101 or reporting it online.”
