Images of man officers would like to speak to

Officers have released images of a man they would like to speak with following an attempted murder in Manchester.

At around 6.10pm on Tuesday 1 September 2020, police were called to reports of a stabbing at a superstore on Stockport Road in Levenshulme.

Enquiries have established that a 19-year-old man was chased into the store by a man who was wielding a knife.

Upon catching up with the victim, the man proceeded to stab the 19-year-old before making off.

Emergency services attended and the victim was taken to hospital with stab wounds to his back. He has since been discharged.

Detectives are treating this as an isolated incident.

Detective Inspector Chris Maddocks said: “This was a vicious attack which we are currently treating as an attempted murder.

“Our officers have been following several lines of enquiry. As a result we are now able to share with the public images of a man we would like to speak to in connection with this crime.   

“I would like to stress to the community that this is believed to be an isolated incident and we are following all available lines of enquiry to trace the offender and bring him to justice. Residents will continue to see an increased police presence in the area whilst detectives carry out their investigation, if you have any concerns at all please do speak to our officers.

“If you recognise the man in these images, or were in the area at the time and either witnessed this attack or saw anything at all suspicious, please get in touch with police as a matter of urgency.”
