Firearm recovered and man arrested in Liverpool

Reported Covid breach at Everton Park Sports Centre

We have arrested a man and recovered a firearm and ammunition in Liverpool today (Sunday 2 May).

At around 10.10am Matrix officers executed a warrant at an address on Princes Road.

A handgun and ammunition were recovered from the garden of the property.

The firearm was made safe by officers and forensically recovered.

A 53-year-old man from Liverpool was arrested on suspicion of possession of a section 1 firearm.

He has been taken into custody for questioning.

Officers remain at the scene while enquiries are carried out.

Detective Inspector Tony Roberts said: “Our streets are made safer with every weapon we take out of circulation and every arrest we make in relation to firearms. I am delighted that we were able to recover this weapon and prevent it from causing fear and harm in our communities.

“We are committed to taking weapons off our streets and, rest assured, if you tell us about any suspected possession or offences we will take action and put those responsible before the courts.”
