Paper chain family held up to sunset

PARENTS and professionals working with children and young people in Liverpool are invited to the city’s first virtual Parenting Conference.

Organised to fit around a busy family or working life, the online events will take place on 2 and 4 November and will feature 16 free workshops as well as other speakers. Activities start at 10am and conclude at 2pm on both days.

All workshops are interactive and all include the opportunity for a Q&A. Workshops include:

  • The incredible social world of babies
  • What is kinship care?
  • Autism and anxiety
  • Children and young people who care for adults
  • Neurodiversity in children in Early Years and Key Stage 1
  • The importance of play
  • The world of SEND.

All workshops are led by experts and the full programme can be viewed in this digital brochure.

The conference is free of charge but interest must be registered on Eventbrite and Zoom links will be forwarded for opening and keynote speaker sessions as well as any workshops chosen by attendees.

Cllr Frazer Lake, cabinet member for social care, said: “We’re all much more used to interacting online now, so it’s great that we are able to run vital events like the Parenting Conference virtually which means they are much more flexible to fit in with people’s busy lives.

“This is a great opportunity for anyone with an interest in child development, whether as a professional, a family member or a carer or guardian, to hear from local experts and to ask those burning questions. And we’ve also made sure there’s time for some virtual ‘networking’!”
