GMP South Manchester Response Officers move stations to allow enhanced police response

South Manchester Response Officers

South Manchester Response Officers for Greater Manchester Police (GMP) will now be based at Wythenshawe Police Station in addition to West Didsbury Police Station.

Response officers respond to emergency 999 calls and urgent incidents requiring immediate action.

The move will allow an enhanced police response, providing increased visibility and reassurance to the local Wythenshawe community.

Superintendent Richard Timson, GMP’s South Manchester District Commander, said: “Local policing is at the heart of the service we provide, and this move means that we can increase our local policing presence – providing reassurance for the public and a deterrent for offenders.

“Our priority will always be to deal with the emergency calls for help that we receive through 999 and the hope is that this move will put our officers in a better position to respond to these incidents.

“The move has been welcomed by our local partners and community. We will continue to engage with them throughout the transition period.”
