At around 7.00am on Sunday 4 December 2022, a fatal road traffic collision occurred on Devonshire Road North in Ardwick, Manchester.

The vehicle involved was a silver Vauxhall Corsa (registration number DV61 AOG).

The vehicle was travelling south along Devonshire Rd North heading in the direction of Hyde Rd. As the vehicle passed under the railway bridge near to the junction of North Western St, the driver lost control and the vehicle left the carriageway to the nearside, collided with a number of bicycle racks and a tree, before coming to rest outside Universal Square.

Sadly, one of the vehicle’s occupants died shortly after the collision and the driver of the vehicle died in hospital on Saturday 10 December 2022.

Extensive CCTV enquiries have been carried out and footage secured near to the scene shows the actual collision and has revealed the presence of a pedestrian who was walking south along Devonshire Road North when the collision occurred.

The pedestrian was walking along the footpath opposite to Universal Square. The pedestrian remained at the scene for a short time after the collision and then continued walking.

The pedestrian has not made himself/herself known to the police and it is believed this person will have witnessed the collision and will hold vital information that will assist the investigation.
