Great teamwork across GMP saw two men arrested following a pursuit across Bolton and Wigan.

Shortly after 1.20am this morning (Monday 8 March 2021), a suspected stolen car was spotted driving at speed on Manchester Road, Blackrod, Bolton by a patrolling traffic officer.

Following a brief pursuit, the car was found abandoned on Warrington Road and officers engaged in a lengthy foot pursuit with the support of police dog; Manpol Jax and his handler PC Ceraldi, the police helicopter and colleagues from Lancashire Constabulary.

Two men – aged 18 and 20 – were subsequently arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and theft of a motor vehicle. They remain in custody for questioning.

Chief Inspector Liz Sanderson said: “This was an outstanding job by officers on duty in the early hours of the morning. Utilising all resources, officers were able to recover a suspected stolen vehicle and arrest two people who will be questioned later today.
