HALTON’S VACCINATION PROGRAMME HITS THE ROAD

HALTON’S VACCINATION PROGRAMME HITS THE ROAD

Over 40s living in Halton who have not yet had their first vaccination will be able walk-up and get their jab at a new ‘pop-up’ vaccination clinic in Widnes, this Thursday.

The pop-up clinic, which will operate from a minibus, will be located at Upton Community Centre on Thursday 27 May from 09:00-12:00. There will be a limited number of appointments available which will be offered on a first come first serve basis.

If you wish to receive your jab, it is advisable to bring a form of identification that shows your name age and address.

Alternatively, residents can secure an appointment by emailing hccg.wa8pcn@nhs.net and providing a full name, date of birth postcode, and contact number.

The clinic is a partnership between NHS Halton CCG, Widnes Primary Care Network (Wa8 Collaborate), Halton Borough Council and Change Grow Live (CGL) who have kindly provided one of their vehicles, with clinical and admin teams provided by local practices.

Also at the pop-up clinic will be staff from Halton Borough Council’s public health team who will be handing out home COVID19 test kits to anyone who needs them. The current advice, now that lockdown measures are easing, is for people to take a test twice a week, to reduce the risk of the virus and variants spreading.

Talking about the new pop up clinic, Halton’s Director of Public Health said: “We are seeing in other parts of the country, cases of the ‘Indian’ variant of Covid spreading very rapidly among unvaccinated groups of people – we absolutely want to avoid this situation happening in Halton. The best way to do this is to protect ourselves and others by getting the vaccination and keep getting tested.

“While the take-up across Halton so far has been fantastic, we know that there are still some over 40s who, for whatever reason, have not yet had their first vaccination. We hope bringing our vaccination clinic out into the community will make it even easier to get vaccinated. I would encourage these people to come forward and get their jab”.

In the coming weeks, it is hoped that the bus will be travelling to various locations across the borough, with more information to follow.

The full address for Upton Community Centre is Hough Green Road, Widnes, WA8 4PF.
