Have your say on street trading

Warrington Borough Council reaffirms position on Peel Hall development

Local people are being invited to share their views on improving the street trading environment in Warrington

The council’s Street Trading Policy aims to encourage street trading practices which are sensitive to the needs of local residents and traders, provide diversity and consumer choice and enhance the character, ambience and safety of the local environment. To help achieve this the council licensing committee have recommended a number of changes to the current policy.

These changes include:

·        The adoption of further steps to provide equality and improve safety.

·        Making the renewal and variation of applications more efficient.

·        The ability to suspend a licence for poor hygiene and additional controls over waste.

·        Improving the management of trading near schools.

Cabinet member for environment and public protection Cllr Judith Guthrie said: “Our existing street trading policy has helped us maintain a strong well managed trading environment in Warrington. These proposed changes should serve to further strengthen the policy.

“If you have views on our plans please make sure you get involved in the consultation, and have your say.”
