We are appealing for information after officers carried out a warrant in Bootle and seized an imitation firearm and five scrambler bikes.

Officers from Operation Pelican identified a container on Derby Road that was believed to be linked to criminal activity and carried out a search at around 7.45pm on Thursday 26 January.

They discovered an imitation firearm hidden inside a couch, which is not believed to be a viable firearm.

Officers also found and seized five scrambler bikes.

Sefton Community Policing Sergeant Kris Allinson said: “We are in the early stages of an investigation and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward so we can find those responsible.

“This firearm, like others we seize, looks extremely realistic. Although not a viable firearm, they can be used to cause fear in our communities.

“Operation Pelican is a small, proactive team set up in 2017 to combat tensions between rival organised crime groups in the area.

“Key to this success is often the information from those people and communities most affected, so if you have any information please come forward.”

If you have any information about this incident, contact @MerPolCC, 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, quoting reference number 23000077178.
