Interactive events planned to support St Helens Borough Strategy consultation

A series of engagement events will be held online and in St Helens Town Centre to support an ongoing consultation that will help to inform the council’s Borough Strategy, currently being developed.

On Friday 7 August, the former Burton’s store in St Helens Town Centre will be the venue for a socially distanced consultation event, with residents encouraged to write and sketch their thoughts and ideas on windows and sticky notes. Drop in on the day between 11am-3pm. Please wear a face covering as you would when entering a shop.

Then there’ll be two online sessions hosted via Zoom, on Friday 14 August at 11am and Tuesday 25 August at 6pm.

The sessions will be interactive and open, but people are asked to commit to attending the full 90 minutes. Booking is essential to receive joining instructions. You can book your place online.

The Borough Strategy consultation launched on 16 July and puts residents’ voices at the fore, giving local people the opportunity to help determine the long-term vision for the borough, asking them how they think local services could be delivered and what role residents could play in this delivery.

The consultation also asks people about their experiences over the last few months of dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic and how we can all build a future that will put the borough on track and support the changing needs of its communities.

Councillor David Baines, Leader of St Helens Borough Council, said: “In the development of our Borough Strategy, we are keen to listen and learn from our communities, so that we can refocus our resources in the areas that best meet the needs of our residents. Your answers will help inform what our priorities will be and by working together we will achieve our goals and unlock St Helens Borough’s full potential.

“These additional engagement events will further support our interactive consultation and our developing strategy, and are your opportunity to shape the story of our borough and help write its future.”

Help to shape the Borough Strategy by attending the St Helens Town Centre event, or book onto the online Zoom sessions. You could even be in with a chance of winning a £100 High Street shopping voucher by completing the survey online.
