Liverpool City Council has formally set out its response to the recently published Best Value inspection.
The city council was invited by the Secretary of State for Local Government, Robert Jenrick, MP, to respond to the BVI report, led by Max Caller, and his proposed package of interventions by Monday, 24 May.
The council’s response contains a summary of the proposed Improvement Plan, which runs to 18 pages and includes a timetable for implementing various changes to how the authority conducts its business, will be debated by Liverpool’s new Mayor, Joanne Anderson and all city councillors at an Extraordinary Meeting, on Wednesday, 19 May.
The meeting will be held at Wavertree Tennis Centre in accordance with new Covid regulations on public meetings.
A covering letter, signed by Chief Executive Tony Reeves on behalf of the council, sets out the council’s acceptance of the Best Value report’s findings and the proposed interventions.
Mr Reeves also underlines the council’s commitment to work with the commissioners who will be appointed to oversee the authority’s highways, regeneration and property management functions.
Following their appointment a detailed Improvement Plan will be prepared by the Council for review by the Commissioners.
