Man, 57, charged with Liverpool’s city centre assault

Man arrested in connection with Malt Street shooting in Toxteth

We have charged a 57 year-old man with s18 assault and possession of an offensive weapon following an incident in Liverpool city centre yesterday, Tuesday 8 September.

At 8.35am, officers were called to St George’s Place to reports of an altercation involving two men. On attendance, a man in his 40s was found with a wound to his face and taken to hospital for treatment. He has since been discharged.

Alexander Day, of no fixed abode, has today been charged with the assault and also two counts of racially aggravated public order.

He was remanded into custody to appear at Liverpool magistrates court tomorrow, Thursday 10th September.
