Man arrested as firearm and drugs seized from home in Tameside

A man has been arrested after officers uncovered suspected drugs and a live firearm from a property on Green Lane in Hollingworth, Tameside.

Shortly before 5am this morning (20 January) police located a male wanted for drugs offences.

Following his arrest, officers found a live firearm, ammunition, a silencer, a kilo of cocaine, and a kilo of cannabis.

The man – aged 28 – was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply and possession of a section 1 Firearm. He remains in police custody for questioning.

Detective Constable Jake Orr, of GMP’s Tameside Challenger Team, said: “We are committed to reducing crime in Tameside, and today’s action is only a small percentage of the work our officers are doing to tackle drug distribution and keep our community safe.

“Weapons and drugs have no place in our community and have the potential to cause a great amount of harm and, ultimately, it is an issue that could cost someone’s life.

“I would also encourage anyone with information into criminal activity in your area to get in touch with us as soon as possible.”

Those with information or concerns in their area can report it online, if able, at or call 101.
