A man has been arrested and drugs were seized after a warrant was executed at a disused bank in Liscard yesterday evening, Thursday 25 May.
Just after 9pm, officers carried out the law enforcement operation at site in Liscard shopping precinct.
On gaining entry officers found seven growing rooms over four floors of the building, with 275 cannabis plants discovered.
A 33-year-old man from Manchester has been arrested on suspicion of production of cannabis, possession with intent to supply a Class B drug, and knowingly entering the UK without leave.
He is still in police custody for questioning.
Chief Inspector for Wirral Community Policing, Tom Welch said: “This arrest is part of our proactive work to ensure we take offenders supplying drugs off our streets.
“This is a significant hoard of cannabis seized by our officers which will make the local community a safer place and from the serious and organised criminals that set the farms up and exploit vulnerable people.
“The production of drugs and drug dealing is a blight on our community, causes misery to families and often involves the exploitation of children. We are relentless in pursuing those involved and serious and organised criminality across Wirral.
“Our work to bring these people to justice will continue on a daily basis and I would ask anyone who has information about this kind of activity to come forward so action can be taken.”

Some of the signs that cannabis is being grown are:
– Strange smells and sounds
– Frequent and varied visitors to a property, often at unusual times
– Gardening equipment being taken into a property, such as plant pots, fertiliser, fans and industrial lighting
– Windows are sealed and covered or the curtains are permanently closed
– Heat from an adjoining property
– Birds gathering on a roof in cold weather
Individually these activities may seem commonplace, however, together may indicate something more suspicious
