Man arrested following incident in Runcorn

A man is in custody after a man brandished a gun in a takeaway in Manchester.

Officers have arrested a man following an incident at an address Runcorn.

At around 8.45pm on Saturday 8 August officers were called to reports of a domestic incident at a house on Cambourne Close.

Local officers, supported by firearms officers and the police helicopter, were deployed to the scene leading to the subsequent arrest of a 50-year-old local man on suspicion of threats to kill.

The man in is currently being held in police custody where he is assisting officers with their enquiries.

Detective Superintendent Sarah Pengelly said: “I understand that such a large police presence is likely to have caused some concern and I would like to reassure residents that this is an isolated incident.

“There are no reports of any inures and there is no risk to the wider community.

“Officers will remain in the local area for some time and I would urge anyone with any concerns to speak to an officer.”
