Officers received a call at approximately 11:35am yesterday (9/11/2023) to reports of a road traffic collision on Buxton Road, Stockport.
A vehicle travelling in a southeastern direction on Buxton Road, Stockport mounted the pavement on its nearside and collided with a pedestrian near to junction of Fence Street.
The vehicle re-joined the carriageway and a vehicle followed for a short distance before colliding with it on London Road at the junction of Mill Street.
The 77-year-old male pedestrian was taken to hospital, where he tragically died as a result of injuries sustained during the collision.
The driver of the first vehicle, a 29-year-old male was arrested for causing death by dangerous driving and remains in police custody whilst the investigation is ongoing.
Detectives from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident or have dashcam footage to contact them quoting log 1288 of 9th November 2023.
