Man charged after bogus official burglary in Crosby

Detectives investigating a bogus official burglary in Crosby in July have charged a man in connection with the offence.

At around 2.30pm on Sunday 19 July, two men attended the home address of a woman in her 90s in Trevor Drive and gained entry by claiming to be from the police. While inside, they stole cash and made off. The victim was left extremely shaken but uninjured.

Following an appeal and extensive enquiries, 35-year-old Michael Delaney of Oil Street, Liverpool was arrested at the weekend and has now been charged with Burglary Dwelling, Theft and Impersonate police officer.

Delaney appeared at Liverpool Magistrates Court on Monday (7 September), and has been remanded in custody to appear next at Liverpool Crown Court on Monday 5 October.
