Man charged following attempted arson in Roby

Three men charged with violent disorder – Anfield

Detectives have charged a man following an attempted arson in Roby on Wednesday, 6 January.

At around 8pm, officers were called to home on Pilch Lane to reports of a man attempting to set fire to the front door, and making threats. Armed police attended and detained a man nearby, who was taken to a police station for questioning.

Damage was caused to the door but nobody was injured.

27-year-old Warren Hughes of Beechburn Crescent, Roby has now been charged with attempted arson; possession of an offensive weapon (knuckle duster); possession of a bladed article (knife); and harassment. Hughes will appear today (Friday 8 December) at South Sefton Magistrates Court.
