Man charged following incident at Chester convenience store

Appeal after boy has his bicycle stolen in Widnes robbery

A 34-year-old man from Chester has been charged with five offences following an incident at a convenience store in the city.

Carl Newman, of Blacon Point Road, was arrested in Brook Street, Chester, at around 9.40pm on Tuesday 18 August.

He has since been charged with burglary, theft from a shop, two counts of common assault and a public order offence.

The charges relate to an incident that occurred at a convenience store in Brook Street on the same night.

No-one required medical attention as a result of the incident.

Newman has been remanded in custody and is set to appear at Warrington Magistrates’ Court, via a video link, on Thursday 20 August.
