Man charged following robbery incident in Widnes

Appeal for information following burglary at Northwich convenience store

A 56-year-old man from Widnes has been charged following a robbery incident in the town.

Stephen Murphy, of Halebank Road, was arrested in the Halebank area of Widnes at around 9am on Tuesday 3 November.

He has subsequently been charged with robbery and possession of an imitation firearm.

The charges relate to an incident that occurred on Hale Road in Widnes at around 8pm on Friday 10 October.

It involved a 37-year-old woman from Widnes, who did not sustain any injuries as a result of the incident.

Murphy appeared at Warrington Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 4 November, via a video link.

He was remanded in custody and is set to appear at Liverpool Crown Court on Wednesday 2 December.
