St Helens Cemetery and Crematorium and GreenAcres Rainford are inviting residents to join them for a special series of Mother’s Day video memorial events presented on social media on Sunday 14th March starting from 10:30am.
Throughout the pandemic St Helens Crematorium and GreenAcres have worked together with neighbouring councils to form the Merseyside Bereavement Team. Following a successful video event on Father’s Day last year, the group decided to once again collaborate on a coordinated Mother’s Day event, knowing this day would be particularly difficult for so many.
National guidelines have restricted families from coming together in the ways they would normally, making it that much more difficult to commemorate the lives of loved ones who have died. By creating these virtual events, the teams hope that although times have been tough and restrictions have been hard, their message of hope, care and respect is embraced by the families they have served.
Follow St Helens Borough Council on Twitter and Facebook and GreenAcres Rainford on Facebook to view the ceremonies on the day. GreenAcres’ ceremony will be posted at 10:30am, followed by the council’s ceremony at 11:30am, and the other partners at hourly intervals.
Councillor Andy Bowden, St Helens Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Transport and Environment, said: “Our staff and the team at GreenAcres Rainford have continued to offer dignified and meaningful services throughout this difficult time with the care and attention that they always have, and I applaud the partnership working to present this new remembrance event remotely.
“We hope that these simple recorded ceremonies and performances will provide some small comfort to residents who have lost loved ones before or during the pandemic, who haven’t been able to grieve or celebrate the lives of those who have passed in the way they’d wish to.”
