Neighbourhood Weekender returns to Victoria Park

Neighbourhood Weekender returns to Victoria Park

The North West’s biggest Indie festival returns to Victoria Park this May.

Noise and cleaning issues

A designated resident’s number for any noise and cleaning concerns has been set up with the event organiser.

The resident’s hotline will be operational during the festival by calling 01925 873090 or 01925 873091.

Road closures, speed limit reductions and parking restrictions will be in place from Friday 27 May to Sunday 29 May 2022.

Festival opening times

  • Friday 27 May, 5pm – 10.30pm
  • Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 May, 12noon to 10.30pm

From Monday 15 May, the festival will take over a section of the Victoria Park, including the car park and football fields. The remainder of the park will be still available for you to use, including the children’s play area and allotments.

Following the festival, the park will be fully cleared by Saturday 3 June.

Road closures and restrictions

Festival attendees will be directed to enter the park from Knutsford Road. Those attending the festival by vehicle will use pre-booked car parking spaces at Sir Thomas Boteler High School.

Knutsford Road will have a ‘no waiting, no loading’ order in place over the weekend and there will be a temporary taxi rank available.

Immediately following the festival, Knutsford Road will be temporarily closed between 10.00pm and 11.30pm at the end of each day to allow festival attendees to leave the area quickly and safely. There will be additional managed closures on Bridgefoot roundabout to enable people to safely cross the road and move away from the site as quickly as possible to minimise disruption.

A Temporary Prohibition of Driving and Clearway Order will be in place in the residential streets around Victoria Park, except for resident permit holders, between 9am and 1am, from Saturday 28 May to Monday 30 May.

A Temporary Prohibition of Driving Order will also be in place between 10pm and 11.30pm on Friday 27 May, Saturday 28 May and Sunday 29 May.

Affected roads include:

  • Bridgefoot
  • Knutsford Road – from its junction with Grange Avenue to its junction with Wilderspool Causeway

Parking permits

If you live near to the park you will receive two parking passes per home. Please ensure these are always visible in your vehicle(s) during the event dates.

If you have any issues with your parking permit, or haven’t yet received your permit and you live within the resident parking zone, you can visit the box office on site for advice. The office will be open from 8am to 8pm in the week leading up to the festival. Please take proof of address with you.

Security and policing

SJM Concerts received positive feedback from residents following the changes implemented in 2019 and will be implementing the same external security plan.

This will be a security presence from Knutsford Road and Howley Bridge throughout the day to minimise any antisocial behaviour.

There will also be a presence in Stringer Crescent to deter taxi drop offs. We will also place a barrier along Knutsford Road from the exit points to the end of Beatrice Street for the exit of the festival.

Cleaning

IDEAL are the contracted cleaning provider again this year and will have a community impact team in place. If you have any concerns, please contact the resident’s hotline.

Toilets will again be placed externally to the park on the entrance point to capture customers as they exit the festival.

Noise reporting

A designated resident’s number for any noise concerns has been set up with the event organiser. The resident’s hotline will be operational during the festival by calling 01925 873090 or 01925 873091.

Getting a taxi

If you hail a taxi from Warrington Central or Warrington Bank Quay train stations, or any other taxi rank in Warrington, then please check the fare displayed in the taxi and make sure that the meter is on and running – always stick to the price on the meter.

If you pre-book a taxi with a Warrington operator, you can negotiate and agree the fare with the operator beforehand. The taxi driver working for that operator must honour the pre-agreed fare.

If you need to complain about a Warrington taxi, or a fare you have been charged, please note the vehicle registration number, the taxi licence plate number and the driver’s ID badge number, and ask for a receipt. Issues can then be reported to us by emailing taxicomplaints@warrington.gov.uk.

If you have used a taxi which is licensed in Halton, please contact Halton Borough Council. Remember to never use an unlicensed taxi.
