OBE honour for St Helens Improvement Board chair

St Helens Borough Local Plan progresses as Cabinet approves submission to Secretary of State

A prominent figure in the improvement of children’s services in St Helens Borough has been honoured in the Queen’s New Year Honours List.

Linda Clegg, chair of the St Helens Children’s Improvement Board, and the St Helens DfE Improvement partner has been awarded an OBE for her services to children’s services. Linda has a wealth of experience in supporting children and prior to her current role, served as the Director of Children’s Services at Blackburn with Darwen Council.

Congratulating her on the honour Leader of St Helens Council, Councillor David Baines, said:

“Congratulations to Linda on her OBE in the Queen’s New Year Honours List. It is a well-deserved recognition for her commitment to ensuring young people have the best start in life. Linda has demonstrated her commitment to children’s services improvement and is a dedicated and independent voice as we further improve our children’s social care services. We have seen already that our improvement is being acknowledged by both the Department for Education and Ofsted and I’m sure all of those here at St Helens Borough Council and our partners who work alongside Linda will be proud of her well-deserved achievement.”
