Officers appeal for information after burglary at Garston Post Office

At around 9pm last night (Wednesday 1 December) officers were called to a report of burglary at Garston Post Office on Speke Road.

Five masked offenders were reported to have forced entry into the Post office and stole a large quantity of cigarettes from behind the till counter hidden in a large bag.

It is believed that the offenders left the scene in a White BMW Series 1 following the incident.

An investigation is underway as officers continue CCTV and forensic enquiries.

Detective Inspector Chris Saidi said: “Business burglaries are not a victimless crime – they have a huge impact on shop workers and the people that use their facilities in our communities.

“We are determined to find these offenders and ensure other businesses are not targeted in future. If you were on Speke road last night near the post office and saw the incident or anyone driving off, let us know too, as your dashcam, CCTV or other information could be key.”

If you have any information about this incident please contact police via DM @MerPolCC, ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’ on Facebook or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 with reference 21000564514.
