Officers appeal for information following a robbery of a vehicle in Prestwich

Detectives investigating burglary in Manchester appeal for information, as suspect remains in custody for questioning

Officers are appealing for information in connection with a robbery that occurred in the Heaton Street / Recreation Street area of Prestwich.

Officers were called to a disturbance at around 4:20am this morning  (12 August 2023), where a group of males are reported to have been attacked by another group, who assaulted them with weapons and stole their car: a grey coloured Audi A3 – which has since been located and recovered by police.

A man in his 20s was injured during the incident and was taken to hospital, although thankfully these injuries were not life-threating and he has since been discharged.

Officers are now appealing for witnesses and anyone who might have footage – including CCTV, mobile or dashcam.

Detective Sergeant Carolyn Morley of GMP Bury said: “This was a violent attack and I want to assure the local community that GMP takes incidents of this nature very seriously and is following up multiple lines of inquiry.

“We believe this was an isolated incident and we are determined to see that those responsible are apprehended and held to account.
