The festive family-friendly 4k fun run, organised by St Helens Borough Council’s Sports Development team, follows on from previous success events over the years which have seen hundreds of people take part, raising money for worthy causes in the process.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, last year’s Santa Dash was changed to a virtual 5k challenge.

Councillor Anthony Burns, St Helens Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Wellbeing, Culture and Heritage, said:

“Our Sports Development team do a fantastic job of arranging affordable activities that provide the perfect mixture of fun and fitness – with the Santa Dash always a popular choice given the community and festive feel it brings.

“It was a great shame we couldn’t put this on last year, along with our other Christmas events, but I’m sure we’ll more than make up for this year. We’ve also got Santa and real reindeer visiting St Helens town centre that day (12pm-4:00pm) so there should be a great festive atmosphere about the place.”

Entry to take part in this event is £5 for adults and £2 for children and young people aged 5-18, with all proceeds going to the Mayor of St Helens Borough’s chosen charities, Alder Hey Children’s Hospital and the Friends of Helen Marie, who support sick children in the borough. Children under 5 can take part free of charge

As part of the entry, participants will receive a Santa hat and medal after finishing the run.

St Helens Santa Dash will take place in the borough’s green flag award-winning Victoria Park on Saturday 11 December at 11:00am.
