OP TARGET: Drugs and weapons found as man arrested in New Ferry

Earlier this week, officers from our Matrix Priority Crime Team arrested a man in his 30s for drugs and weapons offences.

Officers attended an address on Marquis Street in New Ferry on Sunday 25th July following information suggesting cannabis was being grown at the property.

On arrival, officers searched the property and found a large amount of brown and white powder, believed to be cocaine and heroin, several cannabis plants, suspected amphetamine and 11 offensive weapons including a death star and push dagger.

A 36 year old man was arrested at the scene for multiple drugs offences including possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, possession of a controlled Class A & B drugs and possession of an offensive weapon.

Ch/Insp Andy Gardiner said: “I am pleased to see that officers are already seizing weapons under the updated Offensive Weapons Act.

“These knives can cause serious injury and even death and should not be in peoples possession in homes under the updated legislation. We will do all we can to seize these weapons and drugs, which could end up being used, or be taken on to our streets.
