Op Venetic: Wirral man, 33, arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply Class A and B drugs

We have today, Thursday 17th June, arrested a 33 year-old man from Wirral on suspicion of conspiracy to supply cocaine, cannabis and ketamine.

A search has been carried out at an address in Birkenhead together with a search of a container unit, also in the Birkenhead area, where over £50,000 in cash and a Rolex watch was recovered and seized.

The man is currently in custody where he will be questioned by detectives.

The arrest comes as part of the Merseyside Police response to Operation Venetic: a national investigation into the use of encrypted mobile devices, commonly referred to as Encrochat.

Wirral community policing Chief Inspector Roger Pegram said: “We will continue with our work because we know the impact that drug supply, its associated criminality and the people responsible for importing it has on the communities of Merseyside.

“We cannot do this without the help of the public and would urge anyone with information on the supply of drugs or individuals involved in serious and organised crime, to please get in touch, either directly through us or through Crimestoppers, completely anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
